REMNANTS

A RWBY fan project
Story
A fan project of my favourite series, RWBY (no affiliation with the official product). This project is an AU: an Alternate Universe exploring the world of RWBY through my own eyes & theories about how the story could go. They are made as voice-acted animatic style videos, which you can watch below.
MY JOURNEY WITH RWBY
Remnants took many names and forms over the years, all of them being different fan projects and AUs that were a fun way for me to explore RWBY’s world - both my high and low emotional points with the series - on my own terms and sharing it with other fans.
In order, these AUs were RWBY: Visions (around Volume 4’s release); RWBY: Cherish (Volume 5) and Remnants (Volume 6).
Visions started as just a casual project on Reddit where it later was rebranded into Cherish around the time Discord communities started growing, until finally it became Remnants as the first proper video was released.
THE SPARK, THE TORCH
I started watching RWBY after the end of its first season, Volume 1 around 2014. To this day, it remains one of my favourite, most-loved series, through its high and lows. It represented everything I had wanted to create: a highly creative, dynamic action story featuring cute girls with badass weapons fighting monsters.
RWBY was a pivotal pillar in my artistic journey. I owe a lot of my inspiration and current creative tastes to those first years being absorbed into this series’ world & characters.
EVER FORWARD
RWBY’s creator, Monty Oum, was one of my biggest inspirations. His death in the middle of RWBY’s production not only shaped my relationship with this series, but also much of who I am & the things I believe have value.
Monty and his final work helped me discover myself as an artist; they taught me to be creative & to believe in the values that stories - no matter how imaginary - bring to people, and above all they taught me resolve, to keep moving, even in the face of tragedy. Because I know now how much the loss of something simple and small, in the eyes of those it mattered to, can still impact them for years to come.
I not only created Remnants, but also continue creating my own worlds and stories because I believe in Monty’s dream. It’s a simple ambition, selfish even, but one that spoke to me: Creating something that outlasts you. Planting a tree that will continue to give shade and bear fruit after you are gone.
RWBY is that tree for me, and I hope by continuing to remember it, by growing myself to create and add more to the world, I can help the memory of the person who planted that tree remain in this world a little longer.
